The Ministry of Transport and Public Works of Uruguay today offered short and long-term solutions to Paraguayan government authorities to resolve delays in the clearance of goods They are suffering some ships from this country in the port of Montevideo.

Montevideo, November 20 (EFE) .- The Ministry of Transport and Public Works of Uruguay today offered short and long-term solutions to Paraguayan government authorities to resolve the arrears in the dispatch of merchandise that some ships of this country are suffering in the port of Montevideo.

This was expressed to the press by sources of the National Administration of Ports (ANP) of Uruguay after a meeting in Montevideo in which were also present the person in charge of the Uruguayan transport portfolio, Víctor Rossi; Paraguayan and a delegation of businessmen affected by the delay in the operation with the boats.

"We were working and trying to agree on a short, short term solution, which It has to do with the early work, prompt unloading and loading of the ships that are currently in port in Montevideo and that has several days of delay, "the president of the press explained to the press. the ANP, Alberto Díaz.

The problem arises because, before the queue waiting to be served, operators are giving priority to unloading and loading the oceanic vessels in front of the Paraguayans and at least about 14 vessels of this country are standing for about two weeks in the port of Montevideo.

Diaz said that as a medium-term measure the ANP asks to the Paraguayans who speak with the shipping companies that operate in the port of Montevideo so that in the contracts they make with the operators that load and unload the ships they foresee clauses of attention to the Paraguayan ships.

"The situation we have today is a delay in attention to the Paraguayan ships according to how the international market occurs. shipping companies sign agreements with the operators, the Paraguayans have no possibility of choosing which operators to work with, "the Uruguayan summed up.

Meanwhile, the expert explained that" if one of the operators is late complicates all Paraguayan ships and not only the one with which he had signed a contract. "

For his part, the Minister-General Director of Commerce of Paraguay, Didier Olmedo, stressed that this "operational congestion has had as effect an unusual delay of a significant group of vessels with a significant amount of containers in a period worrying more than 15 days. "

Likewise, Olmedo said that after this meeting the Paraguayan Government is" convinced that the measures will be put into effect immediately for start to give and right now to solve this problem of delay of our boats. "

" There will be actions that we will carry out governmental actors, other actions that they also belong to private sector operators, "he said, adding that" in this spirit of understanding, the solution to this situation, which was very worrying, is now with possibilities of solution soon. "
