Guatemala, Nov 7 (EFE) .- The Chamber of Industry of Guatemala (CIG) today condemned the "millionaire losses" in the productive activity before the different blockades in various parts of the country. The Campesino Development Committee (Codeca) is carrying out the project.

The campesinos, together with other unions and community groups, started to block different roads in the country as part of the project. a "national strike" to demand the resignation of the president of Guatemala, Jimmy Morales, of his entire government team and of the 158 parliamentarians.

The organized peasantry and other entities of the civil society have called several stoppages of work and roadblocks this year with various demands, such as the nationalization of energy or the end of corruption, the latter a the scourge that has splattered the current Government.

The CIG described as "negative impact" actions that impede free movement and produce human rights violations, which affects "directly to the working population."

Through a statement, the Chamber of Industry urged the authorities to "act immediately and evict the areas of the blockades" for avoid "continuing to affect productivity and competitiveness."

Finally, he demanded that "legal actions" be initiated against "those responsible for these blockades", which, he adds, "only generate more poverty for Guatemalans."

The General Directorate of Road Safety and Protection (Provial) indicated that so far there are blockades in 17 points of the country, among which are the route to the Atlantic, kilometer 130 of Río Hondo (Zacapa), kilometer 245 of La Ruidosa (Izabal), the CA-2 West route, kilometer 178 of El Zarco (Retalhuleu), route to El Salvador and kilometer El Boquerón (Santa Rosa).
