The Argentine Government presents the proposal of "fiscal consensus" to governors

The Government of Argentina today presented to the governors of the provinces of the country a proposal of "fiscal consensus", which aims to order the public accounts of both the Nation and the Provincial States, reduce taxes in the districts and withdraw the demands between the parties.

Buenos Aires, Nov 9 (EFE) .- The Government of Argentina today presented to the governors of the provinces of the country a proposal of "fiscal consensus", which aims to order public accounts both the Nation and the provincial states, reduce taxes in the districts and withdraw the demands between the parties.

The lines of the proposal were presented at a meeting at the Casa Rosada, in Buenos Aires, between the Argentine president, Mauricio Macri, and the governors of the 24 Argentine provinces.

After the meeting, the Minister of the Interior, Rogelio Frigerio said at a press conference that the national government is promoting a "fiscal consensus", which includes, among other things, "the commitment to advance on a firm and gradual path towards balance of public accounts ".

The Executive of Macri also wants the provinces to advance in the reduction and gradual elimination of taxes in the districts, along with the reform tax at the national level that the Government will present next Monday to the Parliament for debate.

The proposal also includes a solution to the so-called Suburban Fund Bonaerense, created in 1992 to balance what the province of Buenos Aires receives in concept of federal co-participation (distribution of resources among the provinces).

The fund has a stop and that has generated a claim before the Supreme Court of Justice by the Government of the province of Buenos Aires, the most populated in the country.

"We understand that it can be solved without that affects the provincial public accounts, "said Frigerio on this issue, which for years has been the axis of controversy among the provinces.

According to the minister, the proposal of the National Executive on this point is "gradual" and "covers the legitimate claim of the province of Buenos Aires."

Frigerio said that in front of this proposal, the province of Buenos Aires Aires, governed by the ruling party, is willing to withdraw the claim submitted to the Supreme Court.

For its part, Finance Minister Nicolás Dujovne said that the proposed agreement including a "cross-desistance of all the trials of the provinces against the Nation, and vice versa, and of the provinces among themselves".

This, he asserted, will eliminate "enormous liabilities quotas "acting as a" sword of Damocles for public finances in the various districts. "

Dujovne said the government also calls for move towards approval fiscal responsibility bill.

This initiative was presented to Parliament last September and sets limits on public spending to eliminate the fiscal deficit.

"What We intend here that all the tax issues that are on the table today and that have not been solved for many years in Argentina have a resolution and so we can start, fresh, a new stage that will lead us to an Argentina with fiscal balance ", affirmed Dujovne.

The Government and the provinces agreed to do a fourth intermission of a week to evaluate the proposal and return to the table to discuss the various points of the agreement.
