Mexican Foreign Minister Videgaray discusses bilateral relations with Lavrov

The Secretary of Foreign Affairs of Mexico, Luis Videgaray, and his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, began a meeting in Moscow in which they plan to address the main issues of the bilateral, regional and multilateral agenda.

Moscow, Nov 17 (EFE) .- The Secretary of Foreign Affairs of Mexico, Luis Videgaray, and his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, began a meeting in Moscow in which they intend to address the main issues of the bilateral, regional and multilateral agenda.

"Today we have a good opportunity to talk with more details about how they develop (our relationships) in all directions, among other things how they are fulfilling the agreements reached by our presidents, "said Lavrov at the beginning of the meeting.

" Our relationships have good perspectives, "added the Russian minister.

For his part, in his first words, Videgaray thanked Russia for the humanitarian aid given to Mexico after the earthquakes suffered by the last September.

The Mexican Foreign Minister arrived last night in Moscow for a flash visit as part of Mexico's interest in maintaining a high level of constant dialogue with other members. Group of Twenty (G20).

It also aims to strengthen high-level political dialogue and follow up on the meeting held by Presidents Enrique Peña Nieto and Vladimir Putin last September, during the IX BRICS Summit, according to the Embassy of Mexico.

In addition to his meeting with Lavrov, Videgaray will give a conference Master in the Diplomatic Academy of Russia.

Russia is the first trading partner of Mexico among European countries not members of the European Union or the European Free Association Trade (EFTA), and the 29th worldwide.

In 2016, bilateral trade reached 1.48 billion dollars.
