The European Commission (EC) announced today the beginning of a process of dialogue with China to advance cooperation between the two blocs on state aid control and review of Fair competition

Brussels, Nov 16 (EFE) .- The European Commission (EC) announced today the beginning of a dialogue process with China to advance cooperation between the two blocs in the area of ????aid control State and review of fair competition.

European Commissioner for Competition, Margrethe Vestager, and the President and Vice President of the National Development and Reform Commission China, He Lifeng and Hu Zucai, held a meeting today in Beijing in which the Asian country stressed the importance of cooperating on competition to ensure good relations with the community block.

For his part, Vestager said that working together to promote fair competition globally is a "common interest" of both parties.

"The tools against monopoly, the revision of mergers and the control of state aid are important tools to ensure that consumers can benefit from markets Competitive and that companies can compete according to their own merits, "said the Danish Commissioner.

In this first meeting, which initiates a proposed dialogue in a memorandum signed by Beijing and Brussels on June 2, both parties noted the mutual benefits of exchanging experiences on how to optimize and boost state resources to promote sustainable and efficient economic development.

"In particular, cooperation in the control of state aid is important to prevent public policies from distorting or restrict competition, or harm an internal market, "the Commission said in a statement.

In this regard, Brussels applauded the adoption by the Asian giant of a fair competition review system, designed to "ensure that state measures do not adversely affect the entry and exit of markets and the free movement of goods. "

Both will review the progress of the implementation of this system at the EU-China summit scheduled for 2018.

The Commission maintains this type of bilateral contacts with several countries outside the European Union to promote a convergence of the instruments and practices of competition policy in different jurisdictions, among other objectives.
